1 Timothy 2

1 First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone—

1 Estas são as minhas instruções: Ore, faça súplicas, pedidos e dê graças por todos os homens.

2 for kings and all those in authority—so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.

2 Ore dessa forma pelos reis e por todos os outros que exercem autoridade sobre nós ou que ocupam cargos de alta responsabilidade, a fim de que possamos viver em paz e tranquilidade, passando o nosso tempo vivendo piedosa e dignamente.

3 This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,

3 Isto é bom e agrada a Deus, nosso Salvador.

4 who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

4 Pois ele deseja que todos sejam salvos e compreendam esta verdade:

5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

5 Há um só Deus e um só mediador entre Deus e os homens: o homem Cristo Jesus,

6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony that was given at just the right time.

6 que deu a sua vida em resgate por toda a humanidade. Essa é a mensagem que no momento oportuno Deus entregou ao mundo.

7 For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.

7 E eu fui escolhido — isso é a pura verdade, pois não estou mentindo — como ministro e apóstolo de Deus, para ensinar essa verdade aos gentios, e mostrar-lhes o plano divino de salvação pela fé.

8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or dissension.

8 Assim, eu quero que em toda parte os homens orem com mãos santas erguidas para Deus, livres da ira e sem brigas.

9 Likewise, I want the women to adorn themselves with respectable apparel, with modesty, and with self-control, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,

9 E as mulheres sejam, do mesmo modo, calmas e sensatas nas atitudes e na maneira de se vestir, não pela maneira como arrumam o cabelo ou por causa das joias ou roupas extravagantes.

10 but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.

10 As mulheres cristãs devem ser notadas por suas boas obras e virtude, como devem ser as mulheres que dizem que são dedicadas a Deus!

11 A woman must learn in quietness and full submissiveness.

11 As mulheres devem ouvir e aprender em silêncio e com toda a sujeição.

12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet.

12 Não permito que as mulheres ensinem aos homens ou tenham autoridade sobre eles. Que elas fiquem caladas nas reuniões da igreja.

13 For Adam was formed first, and then Eve.

13 Por quê? Porque primeiro Deus fez Adão, e depois fez Eva.

14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and fell into transgression.

14 E não foi Adão quem foi enganado, mas sim Eva, e o resultado foi o pecado.

15 Women, however, will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.

15 Mas a mulheres serão salvas dando à luz filhos — se elas permanecerem na fé, no amor e na santificação.
