Psalms 107

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.

1 Deem graças ao Senhor, porque ele é bom! O seu amor cuidadoso e fiel dura para sempre.

2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy

2 Vocês que foram salvos pelo Senhor das mãos do inimigo, contem sobre a salvação de Deus!

3 and gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.

3 Sim, anunciem esse amor pelos salvos que estavam espalhados por toda a terra — do Oriente, e do Ocidente, do Norte e do Sul — e que foram reunidos pelo Senhor.

4 Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no path to a city in which to dwell.

4 Eles andaram perdidos pelos desertos e por terras áridas, sem achar uma cidade onde pudessem morar.

5 They were hungry and thirsty; their soul fainted within them.

5 Passando fome e sede, estavam a ponto de morrer.

6 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.

6 No meio de tanto sofrimento, clamaram ao Senhor, e ele os livrou das dificuldades em que se encontravam.

7 He led them on a straight path to reach a city where they could live.

7 Mostrou-lhes o caminho certo e seguro para alcançar uma cidade onde pudessem morar.

8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.

8 Deem graças ao Senhor por seu amor cuidadoso! Louvem o Senhor pelas maravilhas que ele faz em favor dos homens!

9 For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

9 Ele sacia o sedento e dá alimento de sobra ao faminto.

10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and chains,

10 Alguns estavam vivendo na escuridão, nas trevas, sentindo bem de perto a ameaça da morte, presos por correntes e dominados pelo desespero,

11 because they rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High.

11 pois se revoltaram contra as palavras de Deus e não deram importância aos conselhos do Altíssimo.

12 He humbled their hearts with hard labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help.

12 Por isso ele os sujeitou a trabalhos pesados a ponto de ficarem esgotados, e não apareceu ninguém para ajudar!

13 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.

13 No meio de tanto sofrimento clamaram ao Senhor, e ele os livrou das dificuldades em que se encontravam.

14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke away their chains.

14 Deus os tirou da escuridão e os livrou da ameaça de morte e quebrou as correntes que os prendiam.

15 Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.

15 Deem graças ao Senhor por seu amor cuidadoso e pelas maravilhas que ele faz em favor dos homens!

16 For He has broken down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron.

16 Ele quebrou as pesadas portas de bronze das prisões e partiu as trancas de ferro.

17 Fools, in their rebellious ways, and through their iniquities, suffered affliction.

17 Alguns foram tolos; foram castigados por andarem no caminho da maldade, desobedecendo a Deus.

18 They loathed all food and drew near to the gates of death.

18 Perderam a vontade de se alimentar e chegaram bem perto da morte.

19 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.

19 No meio de tanto sofrimento clamaram ao Senhor, e ele os livrou das dificuldades em que se encontravam.

20 He sent forth His word and healed them; He rescued them from the Pit.

20 Com uma única ordem, o Senhor curou os doentes, livrando-os da morte.

21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.

21 Deem graças ao Senhor pelo seu amor cuidadoso e pelas maravilhas que ele faz em favor dos homens!

22 Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare His works with rejoicing.

22 Ofereçam sacrifícios de ação de graças e anunciem com cânticos de alegria as obras do Senhor!

23 Others went out to sea in ships, conducting trade on the mighty waters.

23 Há ainda os marinheiros que em seus navios cruzam os mares, fazendo negócios na imensidão das águas.

24 They saw the works of the LORD, and His wonders in the deep.

24 Eles viram as obras do Senhor e o poder de Deus em ação nas águas profundas.

25 For He spoke and raised a tempest that lifted the waves of the sea.

25 Com uma palavra sua, ele provocou um vento muito forte que levantou ondas enormes.

26 They mounted up to the heavens, then sunk to the depths; their courage melted in their anguish.

26 Levados pelas ondas, os navios subiam bem alto e depois pareciam descer até o fundo do mar. Desesperados, os marinheiros perderam a coragem.

27 They reeled and staggered like drunkards, and all their skill was useless.

27 Cambaleavam como se estivessem bêbados, tropeçando e caindo, e toda a sua habilidade foi inútil.

28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress.

28 No meio de tanto sofrimento clamaram ao Senhor, e ele livrou-os da tribulação em que se encontravam.

29 He calmed the storm to a whisper, and the waves of the sea were hushed.

29 Ele fez a tempestade parar e as ondas se acalmarem.

30 They rejoiced in the silence, and He guided them to the harbor they desired.

30 As ondas sossegaram, os marinheiros se alegraram, e Deus os levou ao porto em segurança.

31 Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.

31 Deem graças ao Senhor pelo seu amor cuidadoso e pelas maravilhas que ele faz em favor dos homens!

32 Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people and praise Him in the council of the elders.

32 Além disso, exaltem o Senhor quando o povo se reunir para adorar e louvem a ele na assembleia dos líderes.

33 He turns rivers into deserts, springs of water into thirsty ground,

33 O Senhor transforma rios em desertos e fontes em terra seca,

34 and fruitful land into fields of salt, because of the wickedness of its dwellers.

34 faz da terra fértil um solo salgado e inútil por causa da maldade de quem morava ali.

35 He turns a desert into pools of water and a dry land into flowing springs.

35 Ele transforma o deserto quente e seco em açudes e a terra ressecada em fontes de água.

36 He causes the hungry to settle there, that they may establish a city in which to dwell.

36 Ele dá aos pobres e famintos essa nova terra, para ali construírem a sua cidade.

37 They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest.

37 Lá, eles semearam os cereais e plantaram uvas e tiveram grandes colheitas.

38 He blesses them, and they multiply greatly; He does not let their herds diminish.

38 O Senhor abençoou o seu povo, e eles cresceram muito em número. Deus não deixou que o gado diminuísse.

39 When they are decreased and humbled by oppression, evil, and sorrow,

39 No entanto, perderam sua força e poder, voltaram a ser poucos em número. Foram humilhados com a exploração, desgraça e muito sofrimento.

40 He pours out contempt on the nobles and makes them wander in a trackless wasteland.

40 O Senhor despreza os príncipes orgulhosos e faz com que eles andem sem destino por terras desconhecidas, onde nem sequer existem estradas.

41 But He lifts the needy from affliction and increases their families like flocks.

41 Mas livra da miséria os pobres, e aumenta as suas famílias como rebanhos.

42 The upright see and rejoice, and all iniquity shuts its mouth.

42 Os que obedecem a Deus veem essas coisas e se alegram, mas os perversos ficam sem resposta.

43 Let him who is wise pay heed to these things and consider the loving devotion of the LORD.

43 Que os sensatos reflitam nisso! Pensem no amor cuidadoso do Senhor!
