Psalms 18

1 For the choirmaster. Of David the servant of the LORD, who sang this song to the LORD on the day the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love You, O LORD, my strength.

1 Ó Senhor! Como eu o amo, minha fonte de poder!

2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

2 O Senhor é a minha rocha, o meu rochedo e o meu libertador; o meu Deus é a minha fortaleza, em quem me refugio. Ele é o meu escudo, e o seu poder é a garantia da minha salvação.

3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

3 Sempre que peço ajuda ao Senhor, ele me livra dos meus inimigos. Por isso o Senhor merece todo o louvor!

4 The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of chaos overwhelmed me.

4 A morte me cercou por todos os lados com as suas garras. Quase fui afogado pela corrente de destruição; fiquei com muito medo.

5 The cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me.

5 Fui agarrado pelos laços do reino dos mortos, fui apanhado de surpresa pelos laços da morte.

6 In my distress I called upon the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for His help reached His ears.

6 No meio da minha aflição clamei pela ajuda do Senhor. Gritando, pedi socorro ao meu Deus. Lá do seu templo ele ouviu a minha voz; ele escutou meu pedido de socorro.

7 Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains trembled; they were shaken because He burned with anger.

7 Então a terra tremeu e agitou-se; os montes foram sacudidos desde suas bases, por causa da ira do Senhor.

8 Smoke rose from His nostrils, and consuming fire came from His mouth; glowing coals blazed forth.

8 Saíram da sua boca grandes chamas, e fogo que consumia a terra; das suas narinas subiu fumaça, sinal da sua ira.

9 He parted the heavens and came down with dark clouds beneath His feet.

9 Os céus ficaram mais baixos com nuvens escuras de tempestade, e sobre elas ele vinha descendo em direção à terra.

10 He mounted a cherub and flew; He soared on the wings of the wind.

10 Levado por um querubim, ele se aproximou rapidamente, voando sobre as asas do vento.

11 He made darkness His hiding place, and storm clouds a canopy around Him.

11 Ele se cobriu com um manto de trevas, com uma cortina de nuvens escuras e carregadas de água.

12 From the brightness of His presence His clouds advanced—hailstones and coals of fire.

12 De repente, com a glória da sua presença, as nuvens se desfizeram com relâmpagos e granizo.

13 The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded—hailstones and coals of fire.

13 O Senhor, a voz do Altíssimo, ressoou nos céus, como a voz de um trovão. Logo começaram a cair pedras e fogo!

14 He shot His arrows and scattered the foes; He hurled lightning and routed them.

14 Ele lançou sobre meus inimigos suas terríveis lanças, os relâmpagos, e eles fugiram, apavorados.

15 The channels of the sea appeared, and the foundations of the world were exposed, at Your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.

15 Quando ele falou, os mares recuaram. Com a violência da sua ira, com o sopro do seu furor, foi possível ver o fundo do mar.

16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters.

16 Lá do alto ele estendeu sua mão e me segurou; tirou-me das águas agitadas.

17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from foes too mighty for me.

17 Ele me livrou das mãos do meu inimigo poderoso; salvou-me de quem me odiava, gente poderosa demais para mim.

18 They confronted me in my day of calamity, but the LORD was my support.

18 Meus inimigos me atacaram de surpresa no dia em que eu estava mais fraco e triste. Mas o Senhor foi o meu apoio; ele me sustentou.

19 He brought me out into the open; He rescued me because He delighted in me.

19 Livrou-me de uma situação terrível e me levou para um lugar bem espaçoso. Ele me salvou porque me quer bem.

20 The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; He has repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands.

20 O Senhor me tratou conforme a minha justiça, de acordo com a sinceridade das minhas ações,

21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God.

21 pois eu venho seguindo fielmente os caminhos do Senhor. Não fui rebelde, não me afastei do meu Deus.

22 For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes.

22 Procuro sempre lembrar de todos os seus mandamentos! Não deixei de lado nenhuma ordem do Senhor.

23 And I have been blameless before Him and kept myself from iniquity.

23 Sempre fui sincero diante dele; guardei-me de praticar o mal.

24 So the LORD has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.

24 Por isso, o Senhor me tratou segundo a minha justiça; ele me deu a recompensa conforme a pureza das minhas mãos diante dele.

25 To the faithful You show Yourself faithful, to the blameless You show Yourself blameless;

25 O Senhor é fiel para com o fiel. Cumpre as suas promessas para quem obedece às suas leis;

26 to the pure You show Yourself pure, but to the crooked You show Yourself shrewd.

26 ao puro de coração o Senhor se revela puro. Mas, ao homem que torce os seus mandamentos, o Senhor mostra a sua justa ira.

27 For You save an afflicted people, but You humble those with haughty eyes.

27 Salva os humildes, mas humilha os orgulhosos.

28 For You, O LORD, light my lamp; my God lights up my darkness.

28 O Senhor mantém a minha lâmpada brilhando; o meu Deus transforma as minhas trevas em luz.

29 For in You I can charge an army, and with my God I can scale a wall.

29 Com ele ao meu lado sou capaz de derrotar um exército; com o meu Deus posso saltar os muros mais altos.

30 As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.

30 O caminho de Deus é perfeito; as promessas do Senhor sempre se cumprem. O Senhor é como um escudo; ele protege a todos que nele se escondem.

31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?

31 Pois quem é Deus além do Senhor? Quem é firme e seguro como uma rocha, senão o nosso Deus?

32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way clear.

32 Ele me dá força e prepara o caminho por onde devo andar.

33 He makes my feet like those of a deer and stations me upon the heights.

33 Ele fez os meus pés serem tão rápidos e firmes como os pés das cabras dos montes. Deus me deu firmeza quando eu andava no alto dos rochedos.

34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

34 Ele me preparou para a guerra e me deu força suficiente para vergar um arco de bronze.

35 You have given me Your shield of salvation; Your right hand upholds me, and Your gentleness exalts me.

35 O Senhor me dá o escudo da vitória; a sua mão direita me mantém em pé; a sua paciência e compreensão me engrandecem.

36 You broaden the path beneath me so that my ankles do not give way.

36 Preparou um caminho largo para mim, e assim os meus pés não tropeçam.

37 I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were consumed.

37 Persegui e alcancei os meus inimigos; só voltei depois de tê-los destruído.

38 I crushed them so they could not rise; they have fallen under my feet.

38 Esmaguei-os de tal maneira que não tiveram forças para se levantar. Eles estão debaixo dos meus pés!

39 You have armed me with strength for battle; You have subdued my foes beneath me.

39 O Senhor me deu força para a luta; o Senhor derrotou aqueles que se rebelaram contra mim.

40 You have made my enemies retreat before me; I destroyed those who hated me.

40 O Senhor colocou os meus inimigos para correr; destruí completamente os que me odiavam.

41 They cried for help, but there was no one to save them—to the LORD, but He did not answer.

41 Bem que eles gritaram pedindo socorro, mas ninguém respondeu. Pediram ajuda ao Senhor, mas ele não respondeu.

42 I ground them as dust in the face of the wind; I trampled them like mud in the streets.

42 Esmaguei meus inimigos até virarem pó que o vento levou. Lancei fora os que sobraram para serem como a lama das ruas.

43 You have delivered me from the strife of the people; You have made me the head of nations; a people I had not known shall serve me.

43 O Senhor me livrou da revolta do povo e me colocou como rei de muitas nações. Um povo que eu nem conheço está me servindo.

44 When they hear me, they obey me; foreigners cower before me.

44 Eles ouvem as minhas ordens e me obedecem sem discutir; são estrangeiros que se sujeitaram ao meu governo.

45 Foreigners lose heart and come trembling from their strongholds.

45 Cheios de medo eles abandonam suas fortalezas.

46 The LORD lives, and blessed be my Rock! And may the God of my salvation be exalted—

46 O Senhor está vivo! Louvado seja a minha Rocha! Exaltado seja Deus, o meu Salvador!

47 the God who avenges me and subdues nations beneath me,

47 Ele me vinga dos meus inimigos e me deu controle sobre muitas nações.

48 who delivers me from my enemies. You exalt me above my foes; You rescue me from violent men.

48 O Senhor me salvou de meus inimigos e me manteve fora do alcance dos meus adversários poderosos e violentos.

49 Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name.

49 Por isso, Senhor, eu o louvarei entre as nações e cantarei louvores ao seu nome!

50 Great salvation He brings to His king. He shows loving devotion to His anointed, to David and his descendants forever.

50 O Senhor dá grandes vitórias ao seu rei; ele mostra a sua bondade ao seu ungido, e continuará mostrando essa mesma bondade aos seus filhos e netos que ocuparem o seu trono, para sempre.
