Psalms 19

1 For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.

1 Os céus anunciam a glória de Deus. O firmamento proclama as obras das suas mãos.

2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.

2 Cada dia que passa conta ao dia seguinte mais um pouco dessa glória; cada noite revela à noite seguinte como se pode conhecer o Criador.

3 Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard,

3 Esses discursos são silenciosos; não se ouve uma palavra,

4 their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.

4 mas a sua voz ressoa por toda a terra, e as suas palavras até os confins do mundo. Nos céus ele armou uma tenda para o sol,

5 Like a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course,

5 onde Deus traçou um caminho para ele. Dia após dia o sol percorre esse caminho, brilhante e belo como um noivo que sai do seu aposento, forte e alegre como um atleta participando de uma corrida!

6 it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.

6 Atravessa os céus de uma extremidade até a outra e nada na terra escapa ao seu calor.

7 The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple.

7 A lei do Senhor é perfeita; ela devolve à nossa alma as forças perdidas. A revelação da vontade de Deus é digna de confiança; ela dá sabedoria a quem estiver disposto a aprender.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

8 As ordens que Deus dá aos homens são sempre justas; quem obedece, sente uma profunda alegria no coração. Os preceitos do Senhor são bem claros e iluminam os nossos olhos.

9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true, being altogether righteous.

9 A obediência ao Senhor nos conserva puros; é a garantia de vida eterna. As ordenanças do Senhor são verdadeiras e todas elas justas.

10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.

10 Valem mais do que o ouro, mesmo o ouro mais fino. São mais doces do que o mel, do que as gotas do favo.

11 By them indeed Your servant is warned; in keeping them is great reward.

11 Além de tudo isso, servem para nos corrigir quando estamos errados. Quem segue as instruções de Deus recebe recompensas.

12 Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults.

12 Quem sou eu para discernir os pecados que se escondem em meu interior? Por favor, Senhor, perdoe os meus pecados ocultos!

13 Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed of great transgression.

13 Livre-me também dos pecados que cometo voluntariamente. Não deixe que eles me dominem. Assim ficarei livre da culpa, e escaparei de cometer grandes pecados.

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

14 Desejo que as palavras da minha boca e os meus pensamentos íntimos sejam sempre agradáveis ao Senhor, minha Rocha e meu Libertador!
