Psalms 46

1 For the choirmaster. Of the sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.

1 Dem Vorsänger. Von den Kindern Korahs. Auf Alamoth. Ein Lied. (046-2) Gott ist unsre Zuversicht und Stärke; eine Hilfe, in Nöten kräftig erfunden.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth is transformed and the mountains are toppled into the depths of the seas,

2 (046-3) Darum fürchten wir uns nicht, wenn auch die Erde weicht und die Berge mitten ins Meer sinken,

3 though their waters roar and foam and the mountains quake in the surge. Selah

3 (046-4) wenn gleich seine Wasser wüten und toben und vor seinem Übermut die Berge zittern. (Pause.)

4 There is a river whose streams delight the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

4 (046-5) Ein Strom mit seinen Bächen erfreut die Stadt Gottes, die heiligen Wohnungen des Höchsten.

5 God is within her; she will not be moved. God will help her when morning dawns.

5 (046-6) Gott ist in ihrer Mitte, sie wird nicht wanken; Gott wird ihr helfen, wenn der Morgen anbricht.

6 Nations rage, kingdoms crumble; the earth melts when He lifts His voice.

6 (046-7) Die Völker tobten, die Königreiche wankten, als er seine Stimme hören ließ; und die Erde verging.

7 The LORD of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

7 (046-8) Mit uns aber ist der HERR der Heerscharen; der Gott Jakobs ist für uns eine feste Burg! (Pause.)

8 Come, see the works of the LORD, who brings devastation upon the earth.

8 (046-9) Kommt her, schauet die Werke des HERRN, der auf Erden Verheerungen angerichtet hat,

9 He makes wars to cease throughout the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; He burns the shields in the fire.

9 (046-10) der den Kriegen ein Ende macht, der den Bogen zerbricht, den Speer zerschlägt und die Wagen mit Feuer verbrennt!

10 “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted over the earth.”

10 (046-11) Seid stille und erkennet, daß ich Gott bin; ich will erhaben sein unter den Völkern, ich will erhaben sein auf Erden.

11 The LORD of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

11 (046-12) Der HERR der Heerscharen ist mit uns, der Gott Jakobs ist unsre feste Burg! (Pause.)
